Nothing at all dramatic like your cliffs. I think on the Pacific side of the US and maybe the northern atlantic there are some cliffs , but in the South the beaches are nice for relaxing on but not so great for painting. by the way i really like how you handled the figures in your paintings. Just enough details without overworking.Douglas Clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13814926126903308566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729131942320060374.post-58880571087507623772011-06-01T08:21:56.637+11:302011-06-01T08:21:56.637+11:30Thanks Douglas. The weather can be a bit unpredictable but we were lucky this time. My geography of the US isn't so good. What's the Texas coastline like?Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17909161522406304080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729131942320060374.post-41124633815792950402011-05-31T11:06:52.473+11:302011-05-31T11:06:52.473+11:30David these are just beautiful, especially your bl...David these are just beautiful, especially your blues. These would make great tourist posters; they sure make me wish I was at Cornwall painting. We don't have any scenery like this in Texas.Douglas Clarkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13814926126903308566noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729131942320060374.post-56637860885898768882011-05-31T06:22:11.698+11:302011-05-31T06:22:11.698+11:30Thanks Valerie. On a sunny day, I'm struggling to think of better places to paint. Certainly recommended for a return trip!Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17909161522406304080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729131942320060374.post-77584962379336355172011-05-31T05:36:20.631+11:302011-05-31T05:36:20.631+11:30Beautiful paintings David! I specially love the first one and generally like the way you suggest the waves with very soft brushstrokes. It makes you want to swim in there ( that is if you forget a second how cold it must be!). I've tried to keep things lighter/fresher this time round as it's easy to get too dark with the cliffs and rocks using oils (as I discovered with one or two unsatisfactory efforts on previous trips). It's a tricky business though since you need a degree of darks to tie things together. I used a different palette this time which seemed to help along those lines.Davidhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17909161522406304080noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3729131942320060374.post-22272844409336810202011-05-31T03:46:11.459+11:302011-05-31T03:46:11.459+11:30Wow, these are beautiful!Wow, these are beautiful!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01982886363535076008noreply@blogger.com
